Healing After Pregnancy Loss
Losing a pregnancy is a real loss, whenever and however it happens. But it's often grieved quietly. People around you may not know what to say, or may say the wrong thing. You may feel pressure to move on before you're ready.
Pregnancy loss is a core part of my practice. There's no right way to grieve and no timeline you have to follow. In our work together, we can make room for the grief, anger, guilt and fear that often come with loss. We can also work with mixed feelings that sit alongside the grief, like relief, or wanting to try again while you're still grieving. Whether your loss was recent or years ago, I'm here to help you make sense of what happened and find a way forward that honors what you lost.
If you ended a wanted pregnancy because of a medical diagnosis, you may be carrying grief that feels especially hard to talk about. You won't have to explain or defend your decision here.
Some common issues that may come up:
- Miscarriage and early pregnancy loss
- Termination for Medical Reasons (TFMR)
- Repeat or recurrent pregnancy loss
- Stillbirth and later loss
- Ectopic and molar pregnancy
- Chemical pregnancies and failed embryo transfers
- Pregnancy after loss
- Grieving differently from your partner
You don’t need to have it figured out before you reach out. Some people come to me right after a loss. Others come months or years later, when something brings it back up: a due date, a new pregnancy, or a friend’s baby announcement. Either one makes sense.
